Objectives and Information.

The objective of this test is to conclusively prove that Envirotuff Liners (ETL’s) and pallet covers protect cargo by eliminating extreme high and low temperature spikes.
3 x 20ft containers (all red in colour) were placed side by side in direct sunlight.
(reason for this is to ensure that all the containers absorb the same amount of heat)
The containers were placed on the Friday 20 Jan 2006, and opened up again on Tuesday 31 Jan 2006.

 

There are 2 factors that need to be taken into consideration.

The outside temperature over the 12 days averaged +/-30 ℃.
The containers had no cargo inside. Cargo obviously acts as insulation, so temperatures inside the containers would naturally be even lower than what was recordedduring this testing.

Logger No 1 :Max temp =71.3℃ Min temp =11.1℃ Mean kinetic Temperature (average) =41.9℃ Difference btw Max temp & Min temp =60.2℃

Logger No 2 :Max temp =42.1℃ Min temp =13.9℃ Mean kinetic Temperature (average) =26.2℃ Difference btw Max temp & Min temp =28.2℃

Logger No 3 :Max temp =37.2℃ Min temp =15.2℃ Mean kinetic Temperature (average) =24.7℃ Difference btw Max temp & Min temp =22.0℃

Logger No 4 :Max temp =39.9℃ Min temp =14.6℃ Mean kinetic Temperature (average) =25.5℃ Difference btw Max temp & Min temp =25.3℃

 

Container 1 Conclusion

The Envirotuff Container Liner (ETL) dramatically reduced the heat intake.
The difference btw Max & Min temp’s of Logger 1 and Logger 2 = 32℃
The difference btw Max & Min temp’s of Logger 2 and Logger 3 = 6.2℃
The difference btw Max & Min temp’s of Logger 3 and Logger 4 = 3.3℃

 

NOTE:

Although these results are excellent, due to the fact that there was NO CARGO in the containers, the temperatures inside the ETL was higher than what it normally would be.
Cargo acts as insulation, heat is distributed throughout the container, and although the small amount of heat that is absorbed by the cargo around the container cannot harm the cargo, it will DRAMATICALLY reduce the temperature inside the container.
